These are the first comprehensive learning materials after the breakup of the former Yugoslavia and the emergence of three component languages, Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian. The textbook and the grammar can be used separately or together, while the audio materials are designed to supplement the textbook.
Ronelle Alexander is professor of Slavic languages and literatures at the University of California, Berkeley. She is the author of the two-volume Intensive Bulgarian: A Textbook and Reference Grammar, also published by the University of Wisconsin Press.
Ellen Elias-Bursac is a language teacher and a literary translator. She taught Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbia for ten years at the Harvard University Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures and now lives in Europe.
