Believing from the beginning that God brought this good man into her life, she had no idea of the path through addiction they would undertake together. She became a woman alone, searching for an understanding of addiction and the tools to help her loved one out of addiction. A woman unaware of the effects this addiction had on her. A woman who eventually sees the evil and turns to the One true constant in her life-God and the Catholic faith-and prays and utilizes the Church's great store of resources to battle for her loved one and eventually, herself. A woman who, as her loved one goes through recovery, absorbs all the information taught at the recovery centers and eventually, through her own therapist, along with the weapons of her faith, applies this knowledge to her own healing and to support her loved one's healing. Rather, it's a journey through the phases of the disease of addiction and recovery from a Catholic perspective, sharing personal experiences and stories, while offering understanding and practical suggestions. Although written from a Catholic perspective, By the Power of God is for all people living with addiction and offers a message of God's dignity, healing, hope, and mercy so that they too may have their life, joy, and peace restored.
