The book of "Churches" presents Don Smith's paintings and Roy Ward's photographs of community churches in Northeast Georgia giving the book of historical, social, and artistic significance. American churches are a central part of life in the communities of this country, and the once-familiar buildings are disappearing from the townships of our rural heritage. Smith and Ward separately recorded such buildings in paintings and photographs and appear here for the first time. No collection makes a more profound sociological comment on our recent past.
