A layman's guide to commercial arbitration in the Caribbean. The author draws together the various practical and, to a lesser extent, legal aspects of the regional laws, procedures and rules of arbitration and its offshoots: adjudication, mediation and conciliation.
M. J. Stoppi is Founder and Managing Partner of Stoppi Cairney Bloomfield, a Kingston-based quantity-surveying firm. He has been actively involved in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean area as arbitrator, litigation support services provider and lecturer in alternative forms of dispute resolution for thirty years. He is the author of Commercial Arbitration in Jamaica (Kingston, Jamaica: Heinemann Caribbean Publishers, 1991) and numerous papers, articles and lectures on settlement of construction disputes in Jamaica.
