Modifiche della superficie correlate a caratteristiche strutturali e meccaniche proprie
Questo libro descrive l'uso di impulsi laser a femtosecondi in combinazione con ambienti asciutti e liquidi vari. Tratta dell'evoluzione delle micro/nanostrutture, delle variazioni della cristallinità e della nano-durezza dopo l'interazione degli impulsi laser a femtosecondi con la superficie dell'argento. La formazione di ossido d'argento, idruro d'argento e idrossido d'argento, dovuta all'aumento della reattività chimica dell'argento dopo l'irradiazione laser a femtosecondi, viene discussa in correlazione con le proprietà superficiali e meccaniche. A questo scopo, i bersagli d'argento sono stati ablati con laser Ti: zaffiro per un numero variabile di impulsi laser in ambienti come aria, etanolo, propanolo e acqua deionizzata. Sono state impiegate varie tecniche diagnostiche come il microscopio elettronico a scansione (SEM), la spettroscopia a raggi X a dispersione di energia (EDS), la diffrattometria a raggi X (XRD), la spettroscopia Raman e le tecniche di prova della nano-durezza per correlare le variazioni della cristallinità e della composizione chimica superficiale con le caratteristiche superficiali e la nano-durezza dopo l'interazione di impulsi laser a femtosecondi.

Il ruolo delle nanoparticelle d'argento nel trattamento delle acque inquinate
Alcuni degli estratti avevano un buon potenziale per usi terapeutici contro alcuni patogeni. Sembra che gli estratti con un'elevata attività antimicrobica contro i batteri Gram-negativi non abbiano necessariamente un'attività elevata contro altri batteri Gram-negativi rispetto ai batteri Gram-positivi. Gli estratti di nanoparticelle d'argento mediati da Lilium candidum sono risultati i più efficaci contro i batteri Gram-negativi studiati in questo lavoro. Queste nanoparticelle d'argento mediate da piante potrebbero essere una potenziale fonte di nuovi agenti antibatterici. Si raccomandano ulteriori e più specifici studi in vivo per determinare l'efficacia di questi oli essenziali nel trattamento delle infezioni batteriche gram-negative. I dati rappresentati in questo studio contribuiscono a un'area nuova e inesplorata dei nanomateriali come medicina alternativa. Questo studio raccomanda inoltre di comprendere la modalità d'azione delle nanoparticelle biosintetizzate prima del loro utilizzo in applicazioni di nanomedicina.
