    Tears in Rain

In the same way a photograph captures a moment, the poems in this collection serve as snapshots of thought, emotion, and experience. They hold within them the fleeting essence of a single instant, a transient image frozen in time. Like Polaroids, they develop quickly, capturing a scene or a feeling, inviting you to linger and reflect on the delicate details. These snapshots contain not only beauty but also the raw, unfiltered truths of life; preserving a broad spectrum of human experience. Most moments captured are small and mostly anonymous, experienced by few, sometimes only by one. And as moments pass and memories fade, so too will the experience of these poems fade into time, like tears in rain. -- Dax Hassell (1972) is a poet and emergency medicine physician. He was born in Aruba, where he spent his childhood cheerfully running around. He lived in the United States until young adulthood and is now settled in the Netherlands. His poetic style is introspective and symbolic, employing minimalism to explore profound themes. Some of his poems also feature unexpected shifts and surprising elements. An earlier poetry collection published by him was 'Head Sketching Discoveries', which appeared in 1997.

    Through dirt I grow

Through dirt I grow. To quote Laurie Jean Sennott, “Every flower must grow through dirt”. Flowers are considered an object of beauty and a sign of regrowth. They must grow through dirt to turn into their beautiful selves. And so do we. Roses have beautiful petals, yet they have nasty thorns and strong roots. Through dirt I grow are poems about life and her painful thorns, soft petals and solid roots.

    Where Words Fail, Feelings Prevail

In a world where expressions and communications happen most often using spoken languages, the driving force is easily forgotten or overlooked. As human beings we are able to express our feelings, thoughts and emotions using various tools, like words. This book hopes to create and invoke a wide scale of feelings and emotions, using only my words and your experiences. So that we may never forget that although words run our society, feelings will never fail to render someone speechless.

    Meaning

    Daily musings on life

Often in life, I have wished I had wisdom in my pocket, then I lacked wisdom most; made the biggest mistakes and took wrong turns. Eventually, as with many other lucky souls, I have grown older and (a bit) wiser. It was never a smooth ride, but most importantly I learned. The most difficult for me has been to accept feedback and advice from others. For that reason, I am particularly grateful to my wife and loved ones, who have supported me unconditionally throughout. Loving to express myself and my feelings, this book shares my musings and life lessons. My most valuable realization, is that life is all about placing the right content in the appropriate context, hence giving Meaning to what we do.
