Description
Miffy takes inspiration from a visit to an art gallery and decides to become an artist herself. Looking at the colour and shapes of the world around her she discovers what fun it can be to make pictures of the things she sees. By bedtime, her walls are full of all her wonderful artworks.
Dick Bruna (1927-2017) was Dutch illustrator and author, best known as the creator of Miffy. Bruna wrote and illustrated over 120 titles, and his books have sold more than 85 million copies in over 50 languages. A keen artist throughout his childhood, Bruna was a self-taught illustrator — taking influence from the likes of Van Gogh, Matisse, and the De Stijl movement. His first picture book, The Apple, was published in Holland in 1953.
