Radiochemical Analysis of Agrochemicals
Environmental Fate and Metabolism
Description
Mahbubul A. F. Jalal is a Senior Research Scientist (Retired) at Valent USA LLC, with 35+ years of experience in agrochemical analyses in the industry. After finishing his PhD in Chemistry of Plant Products at the University of Liverpool, UK in 1977, he had several postdoctoral roles until 1984, before moving to a Research Scientist position in the Chemistry Department of the University of Oklahoma, USA. From 1988 to 1991, he acted as a scientist at the Plant Cell Research Institute (PCRI), Inc., Dublin, CA, USA, establishing the agrochemical metabolism laboratory of the Institute. After this experience, he moved to a Senior Research Chemist position at Pan-Agricultural Labs, Inc., Madera, CA, USA, where he was responsible for designing, conducting and reporting all aspects of metabolism, and confined rotational crop studies using radiolabelled (14C) agrochemicals according to FIFRA and EPA GLP guidelines. He joined Valent USA LLC in 1995, and among his main achievements throughout the years, he started the Metabolism and Environmental Fate laboratory at the Valent Technical Center. Dr Jalal has published 35 articles in referred journals, 2 book chapters and 55+ Study Reports (FIFRA, JMAFF and OECD). His main research activities focused on the analysis of agrochemicals using radiolabelled compounds, including studies of plant and animal metabolism, confined rotational crops, and environmental fate.
Svetlana Bondarenko is a senior manager at the Environmental Fate, Metabolism, Residue, and Pollinator Exposure team of Valent U.S.A. LLC (San Ramon, USA), where, among other tasks, she is responsible for designing and conducting a wide variety of regulatory and advanced field studies to support the development of crop protection products following pesticide and GLP guidelines. She has a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the Southern Federal University, Russia, and postdoctoral experience in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Riverside, USA. Since joining Valent U.S.A. LLC, her research interests have focused on analyzing organic compounds in complex environmental and plant matrices at trace levels using gas and liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry and studying the fate and transport of organic compounds in both environmental and plant systems.
