With plenty of helpful advice that works for life in general as well as for football, this is a wise but very funny book with an inclusive message and lots of witty black-and-white illustrations.

This funny and entertaining story from Matt Oldfield, who is well-known for his Ultimate Football Heroes biographies, is sure to be a hit among football-loving primary school children. The seamless link-up play between storytelling, match reports and relentless humour will ensure that young readers are engrossed in Tissbury Tigers’ league challenge right to the final whistle.
This is the second Johnny Ball book and he is still a brilliant football manager. I love the mix of match reports and story. Johnny is really fair and kind to his friends. He's started to change what he wears in this story but I'm not going to spoil the surprise. Next year, he might be my World Book Day character! There are lots of illustrations by Tim Wesson and I think they are great too! Thank you Matt Oldfield for writing this exciting book - I loved it!
This book was so fun to read! Very funny and well written! I love the quirkiness of the characters and the storyline was fantastic highly recommended.
