Christopher Smith is a historian of ancient Rome whose interests extend to political and constitutional thought. He is a member of the Institute of Legal and Constitutional Research at St Andrews, and author or editor of twenty monographs. He was Director of the British School at Rome from 2009 to 2017 and is currently Executive Chair of the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
