Omschrijving
A beautiful and moving study of depression, in which the author draws on her personal experience of mental illness as well as her deep knowledge of philosophy, to show the issue in a new light
Moving, poetic, cogent and honest
Blessedly reflective
On a subject that has in fact been written, sung and talked about extensively, Meijer manages to avoid all clichés. The Limits of my Language shows, despite the title, what language is capable of
A truly noteworthy and poignant essay with a perfect balance between the personal and the scientific... A story of suffering, but also of life
A welcome addition to works such as Darkness Visible by William Styron, and The Noonday Demon by Andrew Solomon. Especially because Meijer tells us how she has learned to work and live with her depression
