Omschrijving
In this memorial volume for David West, the texts of six Latin poets (Lutatius Catulus, Catullus, Horace, Propertius, Virgil, and Hildebert of Lavardin) are analysed by seven leading scholars: Francis Cairns, Ian Du Quesnay, Bruce Gibson, Alex Hardie, Stephen Harrison, John Moles and Tony Woodman.
West’s legacy is here both commemorated and continued—indeed some of the essays read as if they had been written by West himself. The range of discussion is wide, from Lutatius Catulus to Hildebert of Lavardin, and the quality of the analysis is incisive and perceptive.
