Omschrijving

Stefan Peters. Vistas (105168) "In his work, Stefan Peters unlocks a window to a different, unnameable, intensified world for us to behold. " Hans Op de Beeck. Published in conjunction with the exhibition Fearful Symmetry at Galerie Zwart Huis, Brussels, Stefan Peters' latest monograph VISTAS compels us to a journey through his latest body of work of enigmatic landscapes that transcend the tangible and evoke profound emotional resonance. Guided by the insights of Hans Op de Beeck, Claire Leblanc, and Stef Van Bellingen, we uncover here the depth of Peters' mastery of painting. These vast and wonderous canvases invite introspection, challenging our perceptions of reality and landscape art.

Stefan Peters (b. 1978) lives and works in Hasselt. He studied at the MAD Faculty in Genk and at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. In his paintings, animations, and installations, Stefan Peters not only creates images but also sets out in search of their process of origination: the formation of the image. He explores the imitative qualities of painting but knows that reality can also be evoked through alienating effects, image fragments, or even the futility of a brush stroke. Just as silence makes the finest sound audible, Peters creates quietude in his paintings, so that even the smallest ripple becomes visually visible and acquires meaning.
