Random Thoughts is a collection of fifteen essays in literary criticism, some revised, improved and reprinted, and others in print for the first time. These essays are the outcome of the author’s intensive reading and revaluation of a wide variety of Indian, British, African, Singaporean and Pakistani writers and their works in English.
An academic, critic, bilingual poet and translator, Prabhat K. Singh is Professor at the Department of English and Other Foreign Languages of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith University, Varanasi, India. A distinguished scholar and teacher, he has to his credit fourteen published books of critical and creative writings, dozens of research papers in prestigious Indian and foreign literary journals, and the experience of having organized, attended and chaired forty-two national and international seminars and conferences. A recipient of the National Millennium Honour 2000, the Padmashri Dr L. N. Dubey Memorial Honour 2001 and the Michael Madhusudan Award for Literature 2003, Dr Singh has been on academic visits to Malaysia, Spain, Singapore, Australia and the USA.
