An e-book is an electronical form of a paper book. It is a file that can be opened and read on an e-reader, tablet, computer, or smartphone.
Most Dutch e-books use a digital watermark as a means of security, enabling you to share your (or your family members') purchased e-books with other devices. Digital watermarks are used to verify and identity its owners. When shared illegally, a digital watermark allows you to trace down its cause and origin.
Some books are only realised as an Adobe DRM EPUB file in the .acsm-format.
When you purchase an e-book with Adobe DRM, you will receive a download link from us with a file in .acsm-format. This file is only accessible with an Adobe ID. You can easily create an Adobe ID with the Adobe Digital Editions program. Please also note that the device you want to use for your e-book must be authorised in your Adobe Digital Editions.
After opening the .acsm-file with the Adobe Digital Editions program, an ePub-file will be created. This file will automatically be saved to a folder called "My Digital Editions" on your computer or laptop. From here, you can transfer your e-book to your device.
On your tablet or smartphone you can use applications such as Bluefire Reader (only accessible with an iPhone/iPad) to read the e-book. Google Plays Books and Aldiko are two other services that are also available on many (Android) devices.
Donner.nl regards the (digital) Boekenbon-card (book voucher) as a valid payment method, which means that you can purchase e-books with your Boekenbon-card. With a digital Boekenbon it is also possible to surprise someone else with an e-book as a gift.
Unfortunately it's not possible to cancel or change a download order. Ebooks are personalised for your own use and are added to your account. The "herroepingsrecht" does not apply.
