This beanie toy (pack of 10) can be used flexibly as part of the Read Write Inc. Phonics programme to help introduce children to letters, sounds and words in a fun, dynamic and fast-paced way.
Due to the success of RWI, Ruth Miskin is currently involved in a series of nationwide training programmes for primary schools commissioned by the UK government, aimed at training teachers in effective phonics teaching.
In 2007 the UK's Channel 4 broadcast a series of programmes featuring Ruth Miskin working in a failing school, using the RWI programme to raise standards. In the course of the series, struggling and non-readers were shown developing new confidence, competence and enthusiasm for reading. The results make a compelling case for the effectiveness of the RWI programme.
