Description

This book summarises the fruitful results of rocket-triggered lightning experiments conducted in Guangdong, China, in recent years, including data analysis and theoretical research.

Professor Cai Li has taken up a post at Wuhan University, focusing on researching lightning physics and protection. In the past few five years, he has published over 100 papers in SCI/EI papers as the first or corresponding author, received over 30 authorized patents, and been recognized with seven awards at the provincial and ministerial level. He has also been invited to speak at over 20 high-level international and domestic academic conferences. Professor Cai Li has served as secretary general of the fourth International Symposium on Electrical Insulation and Discharge Calculation in Power Equipment, a member of the WG C4.57 working group of the International Council on Large Electric Systems, a member of IEEE PES Substation Satellite Committee -China,and as chair of a session at the fourth International Conference on Energy Internet and Energy System Integration organized by IEEE.

Jianguo Wang received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in high voltage and insulation technology from Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, in 1998 and 2004, respectively. Currently, he is a professor in the School of Electrical Engineering, Wuhan University. And he is also the Head of the High Voltage and Insulation laboratory at Wuhan University. His research interests include lightning protection and grounding technology, high voltage insulation and measurement technology, and electromagnetic compatibility in power systems.

Mi Zhou was born in Ezhou City, Hubei Province, China, on September 27, 1986. He received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, in 2006 and 2011, respectively, both in electrical engineering. From 2012, he has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Electrical Engineering, Wuhan University. From 2014 to 2015, he was a visiting scholar, also as a Postdoctoral Fellow, in Gifu University, Gifu, Japan, on sabbatical leave from Wuhan University. Currently, he is an Associate Professor with the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Wuhan University. His research interests include lightning physics and lightning protection, grounding technology and electromagnetic compatibility.

Yadong Fan was born in Gucheng, Hubei Province, China, in 1967. She received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in automation from Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, in 1988 and 1991, and Ph.D. degree in high voltage and insulation technology from Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, in 2006. Currently, she is a professor at the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Wuhan University. Her general research interests include high voltage insulation and measurement technology, and electromagnetic compatibility in power systems.

Jinxin Cao was born in Jingzhou, Hubei Province, China, in 1995. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, in 2017 and 2020, both in electrical engineering. He then received a Ph.D. degree from The Hong Kong PolytechnicUniversity in 2022, Hong Kong, China in electrical engineering. Since 2023, he has been a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Electrical Engineering at Wuhan University.
