“Haskell Harris has created a book that feels very much like its author—lively, thoughtful, original, and bursting with ideas. Haskell has spent her career in pursuit of beautiful rooms and the people who create them. The House Romantic brings all of that together in a way that’s as stylish as it is soulful.”

“Haskell Harris has a knack for weeding through the expected in decorating to turn the spotlight on personalities who lean into idiosyncrasy and quirk, whose deeply personal, utterly unique spaces could belong to no one else, distilling a formula for houses that are beautiful biographies, inimitably individual, and places to truly call home.”

“I want to throw on a caftan and tiptoe barefoot through these exquisite spaces and revel in the stories of friendship and resilience—a delightful book to savor with a small bite and a good drink.”
