Literatur der Frühen Neuzeit und ihre kulturellen Kontexte
Die Literatur der Frühen Neuzeit ist mehr als 'Vanitas' und 'Carpe diem', 'Pest' oder 'Krieg' - sie ist weitaus vielgestaltiger, als diese Schlagworte suggerieren, die frühneuzeitliche Texte nicht selten eher zum Schweigen als zum Sprechen bringen. Unsere Ringvorlesung will gegen solche klischeelastige Monotonie etwas unternehmen: Sie behandelt den faszinierenden Facettenreichtum der 'spätfrühneuzeitlichen' Literatur zwischen ca. 1680 und 1750. Vorgestellt werden in exemplarischen Analysen wichtige, durchaus auch weniger bekannte literarhistorische Szenarien, und zwar stets mit Blick auf deren Verflechtung mit verschiedenen kulturellen Kontexten. Im Mittelpunkt jedes Vortrags steht ein überschaubarer, zumeist literarischer Schlüsseltext, der im Hinblick auf seine Interaktion etwa mit Musik, bildender Kunst, Theater, Theologie, Medizin oder Politik untersucht wird. Interdisziplinarität des Zugriffs: das bedeutet auch, daß unsere Bochumer neugermanistische Vorlesung in Gastvorträgen Frühneuzeitspezialisten anderer Fächer und Universitäten vorstellt. Recent Advances in Nuclear Explosion Monitoring
This volume is a follow-up of PAGEOPH Topical Volume 167 (2010) and again reports on the latest advances in science and technology that have been achieved to monitor compliance with the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). This progress in the development and testing of new sensor technologies and analysis methodologies in all relevant scientific disciplines improves the detection, location and characterization of CTBT-relevant events. In particular the latter poses a challenge for smaller events, where natural or manmade but CTBT-irrelevant sources can generate false positive events. Being able to effectively identify these events while maintaining a minimum risk of missing a nuclear explosion is the overall challenge. The 29 papers in this volume can be structured into 16 waveform studies, eight contributions in the field of radionuclide monitoring and related atmospheric backtracking and five papers related to on-site inspection or overhead detection of relevant events, with many of these originally presented at a special session on ¿Research and Development in Nuclear Explosion Monitoring¿ at the most recent annual General Assemblies of the European Geosciences Union (EGU). The volume addresses the interests of scientists and practitioners whose work is related to the CTBT relevant applications and technologies in the fields of seismology, hydro-acoustics, infra-sound, meteorology and nuclear physics.

It is a great pleasure that we are now publishing the fourth volume of the series on PUILS, through which we have been introducing the progress in ultrafast intense laser science, the frontiers of which are rapidly expanding, thanks to the progress in ultrashort and high-power laser technologies. The interdisciplinary nature of this research ?eld is attracting researchers with di?erent expertise and backgrounds. As in the previousvolumeson PUILS, each chapter in the presentvolume, which is in the range of 15¿25 pages, begins with an introduction in which a clear and concise account of the signi?cance of the topic is given, followed by a description of the authors¿ most recent research results. All the chapters are peer-reviewed. Corporate Governance, Internationalisierung und Erfolg
Unternehmen sind in der heutigen Zeit mit dynamischen und komplexen Umweltbedingungen konfrontiert. Diese zeichnen sich durch die Globalisierung der Güter- und Faktormärkte, die Internationalisierung der Unternehmenstätigkeit und die Konfrontation mit unterschiedlichen Kulturkreisen aus. Diese Tatsache stellt die Unternehmen und insbesondere die Mitglieder in deren Führungs- und Überwachungsorganen vor große Herausforderungen.Vor diesem Hintergrund ist es erstaunlich, dass sich die Corporate Governance-Forschung bislang fast ausschließlich auf die Überwachungsfunktion des Boards und die Rolle von Insidern und Outsidern konzentriert hat. Obwohl Wissenschaftler, Manager und Medien eine stärkere internationale Ausrichtung der Boards fordern, ist die wissenschaftliche Auseinandersetzung mit der Internationalität und Interkulturalität von Boards bis dato rudimentär und anekdotenhaft. Finckelstein und Hambrick forderten bereits 1996 die Übertragung von Hambricks und Masons Upper Echelons-Ansatz, der den Einfluss personenbezogener Charakteristika von Managern auf organisationale Ergebnisse thematisiert, auf das Board.Dieser Forderung kommt die hier vorliegende Arbeit für ein internationales Untersuchungssample von 255 Unternehmen aus neun Ländern und drei Kulturkreisen nach. Es werden die Internationalität und Interkulturalität von Boards beschrieben und deren länder- und branchenspezifische Beeinflussungsfaktoren aus der Unternehmensumwelt untersucht. Die empirische Untersuchung der Konsequenzen einer internationalen bzw. interkulturellen Board-Besetzung für die Unternehmensinternationalisierung und den Unternehmenserfolg liefert für Wissenschaft und Praxis spannende Erkenntnisse. Die Debatte über die Ausgestaltung von Corporate Governance-Organen wird bereichert und es werden wertvolle Entscheidungshilfen für die Besetzung von Boards gegeben.

Recent Advances in Nuclear Explosion Monitoring
This topical volume focuses on the most recent advances that have been achieved in relevant fields of research of nuclear test ban monitoring, including seismology, infrasound- and hydro-acoustics, as well as nuclear physics and atmospheric backtracking. This research has been presented during the special sessions on "Research and Development in Nuclear Explosion Monitoring" convened during the 2007 and 2008 General Assemblies of the European Geosciences Union (EGU). The special sessions were introduced after the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO Prepcom) had convened a scientific symposium in 2006 on "CTBT: Synergies with Science 1996-2006 and beyond" marking the tenth anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly¿s adoption of the CTBT Treaty. With regard to the seismo-acoustic fields several papers provide important updates on advances made in these fields since publication of ¿Monitoring the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty¿ (see PAGEOPH topical volumes 158-159, 2001-2002). Moreover, this topical volume expands on these publications by including radionuclide and noble gas monitoring, as well as atmospheric transport modeling. In these two areas, significant progress has been made in recent years. Two papers studying the 2006 North Korean nuclear test elucidate how progress made in the relevant fields has allowed for a good understanding on the characteristics of this underground nuclear test.
