Profile of patients who have undergone surgery
The aim of this study is to determine the holistic profile of 63 women who underwent surgery for fistulas and prolapse. This was a descriptive, cross-sectional, documentary and quantitative study conducted in HEAL AFRICA and BENI hospitals in February 2016. The women who underwent surgery had an average age of 45, a low level of education (63.5%), lived in rural areas (54%); were Catholic (47.6%), married (42.9%), and farmers (71.4%). The average number of pregnancies experienced by these women was 6 to 7. These pregnancies did not precede the fistula (71.4%). 96.8% of these women who underwent surgery did not conceive again after the condition. The mode of delivery was vaginal (73%). With regard to medical history, the majority of respondents (87.3%) had no previous history of surgery. The cited cause of these conditions was vaginal delivery (50%). Regarding the treatment profile, the reason for delayed consultation was a lack of financial means (39.7%). The procedure performed was the Soave technique (50.8%); that is, vaginal delivery without episiotomy (26%), resulting in continence (96.8%). Post-operative antibiotic therapy was administered (87.3%).

Learning to Heal
What actually happens when we heal? During a training in hypnotherapy, something unexpected kept happening. People changed - sometimes quickly, sometimes profoundly. But the practitioner observing it had three frameworks for understanding the mind, and none of them was sufficient on its own. In Learning to Heal, Joy Bose follows that question across three worlds: the science of the brain, the practice of Buddhist meditation, and the techniques of Ericksonian hypnotherapy. Each framework is internally coherent. Each is, in practice, effective. None of them fully explains what happens in the room. What emerges is not a single answer, but a deeper insight: change does not always require understanding. And different models of mind may be describing the same process from different directions. In this book, you will explore: What "trance" really is - and what it has to do with attention, not control Why memory is not fixed, and how that shapes the possibility of healing How language influences the subconscious mind, and why precision matters Why even imagined experiences can produce real change What happens when neuroscience, therapy, and contemplative practice are pressed against each other. This is not a how-to manual. It is an investigation - honest about what each framework can explain, and equally honest about where each one runs out.

Recent advances in defluoridation of water in India
Water is an essential natural resource for sustaining life. Fluorosis is an endemic disease prevalent in 22 states in India affecting 70 million individuals. The process of removal of fluoride ions from water is known as defluoridation. Defluoridation of water can be achieved through of techniques like adsorption, ion exchange, precipitation and membrane techniques. Vast varieties of materials are used for the process. Defluoridation in India is peculiar because the endemic areas are mainly remote rural areas with poor economic conditions. The need for cost effective techniques and materials with good defluoridation capacity is always the area of research in the Indian scenario. The recent advances in research arena show the future of the defluoridation in India. Effective, easily available and low cost materials (Chemicals, indigenous products and herbal materials) are the core of investigations. Modifications of known materials used for defluoridation can also produce good results. These materials are suitable in Indian conditions because of the ease of availability and cost effectiveness.
