Down the Aisle of My Being

Part One is called "In My Cave of Hidden Longings," drawing upon a number of childhood experiences and longings. Part Two is called "Loudest in the Silence" and reveals poems featuring sounds and the soundless. Part Three is called "Mountain Woman" and was spawned by the excitement of seeing a distant mountain that looked to Clare like a woman reclining and receptive to the Sun as her lover. Part Four is called "Homecomings" with a full range of what it means to come home to oneself. And lastly, Part Five is called "Of Grace and Gratitude"Ultimately, the theme behind all of the above themes is for the author and reader to be inspired to walk down the aisle of their innermost selves and choose to be married to their Higher Selves.

    Always Rose

"I love life so much I never want it to end..." I was born and I loved life. I was very lucky. And then, like all of us, I discovered death. It was a Tuesday afternoon and Thirsty the goldfish had died. I was very sad, but what was worse, far worse, was that I was told that one day I was also going to die! This little unwelcome piece of information really put a spin on my world and the way I looked at it. I started not liking life so much as I once had. I watched how others reacted differently to this piece of information. It stays with us like a hovercraft just beyond the ears and years and flamingo-coloured fears. All of this will one day be over. It makes us do strange things, this hovercraft. My hovercraft is magenta. How was I going to get all the way back to loving life, whilst also living beside this hovercraft?Always Rose is the fourth of five books in the Past Life Library series where the girl becomes the author: Clare-Rose Trevelyan. She was born loving life so much that she never wanted it to end. So she created the Past Life Library for herself to believe in. So she would meet you and you and you, time and time again, and never have to ever say goodbye. This journal of hers is a random bouquet of thoughts she has thunk throughout her lifetime, about life, love, death, the universe, numbers, atoms... kept in the hope that maybe, it could inspire you to keep your own journal or journals. It is filled with philosophical questions and journal prompts. The related music album, found on all major streaming platforms, includes 3 instrumental tracks for you to make your own songs with.Look out for the Everything-World Blankish Journal, an accompanying storytelling and philosophical activity book where Clare-Rose Trevelyan goes deeper into exploring the questions of BELIEF woven throughout this story.

Why in the World Are We Here?

Eia and Whhat had spent as long as they could remember trying to figure out why in the world they were here in the world. One day, they got so sick of wondering that they hopped onto a rickety raft and set sail across the ocean in search of answers. Finally, after many moon-suns had passed, Whhat spotted an island. After touring The Island of Fun, they were satisfied that the meaning of life was to have fun. Resolved, they returned to their raft and headed home. But on the way, they got lost. Join Eia and Whhat as they tour the islands of Fun, Progress, Love, Creation, Nothing, Now, Power, Destruction, Me, and Healing, and have a go at creating your own island too, as you and your family muse over the various meanings of life. Are there more meanings, more islands? Could we belong to more than one island? Do we go to different islands at different times in our life? How should we live life and why?For this book, the author, Clare-Rose Trevelyan, invited nine artists to each create a different island, its history, geography and people: Cassandra King (The Island of Fun), Danica Chappell (Progress), Honor Bradbeer (Love), María Medem Pérez (Creation), Antoine Nogueira (Nothing), Emil Toonen (Now), Patrick Sluiter (Power), Alexander Esenarro Santafe (Destruction), Yongho Moon (Me and Healing). Why in the World Are We Here? is part of the Young Philosophers Series dedicated to listening to and valuing children as natural philosophers. These unconventional and creative books are designed to get children's imaginations flowing.¿¿¿¿¿¿¿HOW TO USE THIS BOOKRead the story and keep in mind questions about the meaning of your life, what matters to you and exactly how you'd like to live your own life.Choose your favourite island as if you yourself were paddling around a huge LAKE in a theme park and choosing where you would live of all the places. Keep all your thoughts in a journal.Go to the back of the book to make your own island, complete with law, currency, a motto, flag and a historic story of how your island came to be.Create as many islands or places within your island as you like, and you perhaps may start to wonder about who in your life would live on which island, or wonder about if life itself has any meaning at all, or if indeed perhaps you are to make up your own meaning?Look out for the Everything-World Blankish Journal, an accompanying storytelling and philosophical activity book where Clare-Rose Trevelyan goes deeper into exploring the questions of MEANING woven through this story.

    The One Thing & Anothers

*A Red Ribbon Winner in the 2023 Wishing Shelf Book Awards*Rio and Huxley live on the Planet of Stuff where everyone loves stuff. Everyone except them. They are bored of living in their castle and swimming in their 17 swimming pools. To amuse themselves, they pull pranks on their great-great grandchildren, but when caught, their punishment is getting locked in a tower of stuff. Trying to escape the boredom, they hitch a ride on a UFO where they find the planet Earthia. It is so beautiful and so perfect, but to them, so boring. When Huxley decides to pull one of his naughtiest pranks yet, what happens next is something they never would have expected. The One Thing & Anothers is part of the Young Philosophers Series dedicated to listening to and valuing children as natural philosophers. It asks the questions, where DID humans come from? Why are we so contradictory in our nature? Why do we want to collect stuff? What does it mean to belong and can we feel like we belong in multiple places across time and space? Why are we destroying the planet we live on? Young bright minds are called on to write the next chapter in the story.HOW TO USE THIS BOOKRead the story of Huxley and Rio.Think about what you think the story is about? Keep all your thoughts in a journal.Turn to Chapter 7 which lists all the contradictions of the creatures that inhabit the 'planet of Earthia' and think about some 'contradictions' that live inside you and the people you know. How many contradictions can you think of? Keep thinking and thinking as if you were on a never-ending WONDER WHEEL in a theme park.Turn to Chapter 10 at the end of the book and write the ending of the story. What happens to who and why? Are there any more obstacles in their way and what are they? How do they overcome the obstacles? The Fake Dictionary

*Honorable Mention in the 2024 Purple Dragonfly Awards for Activity Books*Someone, somewhere, somehow made up a particular word to be meaningful and useful. And so to question-what are the rules around who gets to make up words and why?The Fake Dictionary challenges 8 to 12-year-olds to create a series of images of new meanings to everyday words. As the title implies, this is a very original dictionary. Using family relics, Clare-Rose created a part text and part image book to explore the meanings behind the meanings of words, hoping to open up conversations around the concept of change. The book also encourages children to make up their own new meanings to words that already exist. What parts of our brain can we plasticise to empower us to see the differences and be bold enough to make our very own changes? Want to have a go?The Fake Dictionary is part of the Young Philosophers Series dedicated to listening to and valuing children as natural philosophers. These unconventional and creative books are designed to get children's imaginations flowing.HOW TO USE THIS BOOKPick your favourite letter of the alphabet.Read the new, made-up meaning for an old word. You may want to wonder about what we can change in this world, what we cannot and who decided this and when? Draw the new meaning in and among the photos of the author's grandmother's old things on the accompanying page, as per the example for the letter A.Collect a few more words beginning with that letter, write them down and develop your own new meanings for those words. You may want to wonder more about 'change' as you write and draw. You could wonder about how you could change your mind. Or if a ghost could change their mind. Or how about, could a ghost make you change your mind? Or if a ghost could make a GHOST TRAIN in a theme park? Keep all your thoughts in a journal.

    The Book With No Story

The Book With No Story is a surprisingly quirky creative writing resource for children and teens with wild imaginations. It is filled with 52 creature profiles from some of the author's books. The eccentric, mixed media art profiles are accompanied by some of the creatures' philosophical thoughts, weaving in and out of their outer worlds and inner emotional landscapes. Children are encouraged to use the visual art profiles to write the creatures into new inside-out stories. An inside-out story lets us know what is happening on the outside of a creature, and also what the creature is experiencing on the inside. Children can also create their own creatures and write their inside-out stories using the prompts included at the end of the book. The Book With No Story is part of the Young Philosophers Series dedicated to listening to and valuing children as natural philosophers. It is a celebration of diversity of thought which leads to questions around what would happen if we all thought the same? Are we alike or are we different? Do people's needs differ? Is this good or bad or just what is? How often do we find a space and time to just wonder, wonder, wonder and think? Do we think too much? How do we not think? Do we believe everything that we think? HOW TO USE THIS BOOKPick any of the 52 creatures.Read about the particular way they think in the world and think about how we all think differently in our own lives. You may want to ponder the idea of 'diversity of thought' and in what ways how we all think impacts each other like BUMPER CARS in a theme park. Keep all your thoughts somewhere.Go to the back of the book to make your own thinking creature in a unique outside world.Create as many creatures as you like, you may be surprised at how your own particular thoughts and the thoughts of other people you know find their way into your creatures. And, if you are lucky, you may discover that it is our inside stories that indeed shape our outside stories and vice versa. To find out more about journaling, other books by Red Wool Editions, and our upcoming theme park of activity books, visit clare-rose.com.
