Asfissiante cultura
'Quando la cultura pronuncia la parola arte, non è l'arte a esser chiamata in causa, ma la sua nozione. La mente dovrà esercitarsi a prendere coscienza - e a conservarla in modo permanente - dell'enorme differenza di natura esistente, nell'arte come in ogni altra cosa, tra la cosa stessa e la nozione della cosa. Il pensiero culturale assume in tutti i campi la posizione di spettatore, non d'attore; prende in considerazione forme, non forze; oggetti, non movimenti; elementi statici, non spostamenti e traiettorie. Nella sua ossessione di confrontare ogni cosa e di misurarla, nella sua ossessione di attribuire valori e di classificarli, il pensiero culturale può operare soltanto su oggetti concreti e tangibili, di misure stabili. Col vento è impotente: non ha le bilance per pesarlo, può pesare soltanto la sabbia che trascina. Dell'arte, la cultura non sa nulla, conosce soltanto le opere d'arte, che sono tutt'altra cosa, che spostano il problema su un terreno che non è più quello dell'arte, proprio come la sabbia in rapporto al vento. In tal modo la cultura falsa la creazione artistica, che così si snatura, tradisce la sua funzione naturale di vento per assumer quella di portatrice di sabbia. Gli artisti, per schierarsi con la cultura, si sono trasformati da soffiatori di vento in ammucchiatori di sabbia. Alcuni affermano che se venisse abolita la cultura non esisterebbe più l'arte. Si tratta di un'idea profondamente errata. L'arte, è vero, non avrà più nome; sarà la nozione di arte ad aver fine, non l'arte, che al contrario ritroverà una salute nuova dal fatto di non aver più nome'. Con uno scritto di Federico Ferrari.
