Een moeder vol stoplichten
Amelie is 9 jaar als haar moeder plotseling ziek wordt. Ze begrijpt niets van de ziekte van haar moeder. Het enige dat ze weet is dat het een rotziekte is die nooit meer overgaat. Thuis is opeens helemaal geen fijn thuis meer. Ze weet zich geen raad met haar gevoelens. Soms is ze heel boos, dan weer heel verdrietig. Behalve haar oude buurman. Hij lijkt wel te willen luisteren en geeft haar soms ook nog goede raad. Zo'n goede raad dat ze op zoek gaat naar een slimme dokter die haar moeder beter kan maken. Maar dat lukt natuurlijk niet. Wel schrijft de dokter haar een mooie brief en leert Amelie en vooral ook haar gezin hoe ze de ziekte een plek in hun leven kunnen geven. Een Moeder vol Stoplichten Is een spannend en ontroerend lees- én doeboek voor kinderen van 8 - 12 jaar. De hoofdstukken worden afgewisseld met verschillende opdrachten zodat de lezer ook met hetgeen gelezen is zelf aan de slag kan en zo ook op een andere manier ontdekt wat MS is en wat het betekent in het dagelijks leven. Het boek geeft aanknopingspunten om in een gezin met elkaar in gesprek te gaan of in een therapeutische setting mee te werken. Maar het is bovenal ook gewoon een heel mooi en fijn boek om zelf te lezen of voor te lezen en zo beter te begrijpen wat er allemaal gebeurt als iemand plotseling MS krijgt. Naar een idee van klinisch psycholoog en kinder- en jeugdpsychotherapeut Fiona Sie die zelf MS kreeg. Het is het eerste kinderboek van auteur Beitske Bouwman die eerder vier romans bij Uitgeverij Querido publiceerde. De illustraties worden verzorgd door Karst-Janneke Rogaar, bekend van het kinderboekenweekgeschenk 2015 en onder meer van de boeken van Simon van der Geest en Frank Groothof.
