Thunderball
Dopo aver scritto Goldfinger - e molto prima che Broccoli e Saltzman, a Hollywood, cominciassero a darsi da fare - Ian Fleming aveva capito che la sua creatura era pronta per il cinema, e aveva lavorato a una sceneggiatura. Lo spunto poteva anche essere preso da un incidente qualsiasi (e infatti, Bond finisce in un rehab per disintossicarsi da fumo e alcol, con una cartella clinica quasi identica a quella del paziente Fleming, ricoverato da poco per problemi analoghi). Il plot poteva ruotare intorno a un pretesto abbastanza semplice - il furto di un bombardiere atomico e delle sue due testate. Ma tutto il resto, il cinema essendo il cinema, andava un po' irrobustito. Così, al posto della logora Smersh ecco entrare in scena la più strutturata Spectre (dove confluiscono 'elementi della sSmersh, della Gestapo, della Mafia e della Triade'): e a compensazione del superlavoro, a 007 non tocca la solita Bond girl, gliene spettano addirittura tre, una più soddisfacente dell'altra.
