Aus den zwanzig Stunden TonbandAufnahmen kondensiert Sheff ein Interview, das am 6. Dezember 1980 im Playboy erscheint. Während die Welt sich noch über das Lebenszeichen des Paars freut, schleicht ein gewisser Mark David Chapman um das Dakota Building in Manhattan. Zwei Tage nach der Veröffentlichung des Gesprächs ist die Ballade von John und Yoko Vergangenheit.
