Le vacanze e dopo? Capire l'impatto del tempo libero e dei viaggi
Un tempo sedentaria, la società umana si è messa in movimento. Ogni occasione è buona per partire, per lasciare il posto dove si abita e si lavora, per fuggire da una quotidianità grigia e raramente soddisfacente, quasi per obbedire a un obbligo sociale. Ma l'esodo delle masse si scontra con dei limiti, a livello ecologico e sociale: per i visitatori, che non riescono più a trarre giovamento da brevi ma intensi periodi di felicità apparente, come per i visitati, che vedono sconvolto il loro ordine sociale, l'ambiente in cui vivono, stili di vita posti sotto riflettori impietosi quanto superficiali. "Le vacanze e dopo?" individua alcune possibili modalità, esposte in ventitré tesi, per trasformare il turista manipolato in turista emancipato, il turista consumatore in turista consapevole, per insegnare a viaggiare, per immaginare una nuova arte di vivere fondata sul tempo libero. Il viaggio viene considerato allora non più come un'occasione per dimenticare temporaneamente la quotidianità, ma come un'esigenza vitale: fonte di arricchimento, involontario ma indispensabile esercizio alla libertà, alla mutua comprensione e alla solidarietà.
