Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking

Aron J. Beekman obtained a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Leiden University. He has held research positions in Japan at RIKEN, National Institute for Material Science, and Keio University, focussing on the symmetry structure of quantum liquid crystals. He currently leads the Computational Physics group at Sioux Technologies in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Louk Rademaker obtained a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Leiden University. He has worked at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics in Santa Barbara, the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo, and the University of Geneva. He is currently an Associate Professor at Leiden University. Jasper van Wezel obtained a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Leiden University. He subsequently held prize fellowships at the University of Cambridge and Argonne National Laboratory, and was a lecturer at the University of Bristol. He is currently the Professor of Condensed Matter Theory at the University of Amsterdam and has won multiple teaching prizes.
