"L'éducation imaginative et les élèves à haut potentiel"

La condition de Haute Capacité est une réalité éducative qui n'est pas encore reconnue au niveau législatif au Chili, cependant, il est nécessaire pour beaucoup d'enseignants de chercher des outils pédagogiques qui permettent une attention adéquate aux étudiants avec cette condition. Par conséquent, le travail suivant vise à réfléchir sur la façon dont l'éducation imaginative, en particulier dans sa proposition d'utilisation de la langue à travers la compréhension, peut être un élément à prendre en compte pour l'attention portée à cette réalité en classe.

"Imaginative education and high ability students"

The condition of High Ability is an educational reality not yet recognized at the legislative level in Chile, however, it is necessary for many teachers to look for pedagogical tools that allow an adequate attention to students with this condition. Consequently, the following work intends to reflect on how Imaginative Education, particularly in its proposal of the use of language through comprehensions, can be an element to be considered for classroom attention to this reality.

La condición de Alta Capacidad, es una realidad educativa aún no reconocida a nivel legislativo en Chile, sin embargo, es necesario para muchos docentes, buscar herramientas pedagógicas, que permitan una adecuada atención de los estudiantes con dicha condición. Consecuentemente con ello, el siguiente trabajo pretende poner a reflexión cómo la Educación Imaginativa, en particular en su propuesta del uso del lenguaje a través de las comprensiones puede ser un elemento a considerar para la atención en aula de esta realidad.

Physics and Technology of Ultracold Atomic Gases

This book is based on lecture notes originally developed for introductory graduate courses offered by the authors at Dartmouth College and the University of Padova. The first two chapters analyze quantum degenerate gases and various cooling and trapping techniques for atoms. The remaining three chapters discuss ultracold atoms as weakly interacting, strongly interacting, and non-interacting coherent systems. The third chapter presents multiple pieces of evidence for quantum degeneracy in Bose and Fermi gases, followed by peculiar features such as superfluidity and the formation of topological defects. The fourth chapter addresses strongly correlated systems, discussing the BCS-BEC crossover in fermionic gases and quantum phase transitions, including their dependence on effective dimensionality. The fifth chapter offers a more specific discussion of quantum coherence in ultracold atoms and their potential as a platform for quantum metrology and quantum emulation. Four appendices provide more quantitative details of theoretical tools used in the last two chapters. Each chapter concludes with problems and a list of more specialized material. The main goal is to introduce interested students to ultracold atom physics research topics and expose scientists working in other areas of frontier physics to this novel and exciting research direction. This book is also intended to complement existing textbooks in standard courses on condensed matter physics, demonstrating how some general elements of the latter can be understood by continuously increasing the interactions between ultracold and quantum degenerate atoms under controlled external conditions.

Modern Physics

This textbook offers an introduction to statistical mechanics, special relativity, and quantum physics, developed from lecture notes for the "Quantum Physics" course at the University of Padua. Beginning with a brief review of classical statistical mechanics in the first chapter, the book explores special and general relativity in the second chapter. The third chapter delves into the historical analysis of light quantization, while the fourth chapter discusses Niels Bohr's quantization of energy levels and electromagnetic transitions. The Schrödinger equation is investigated in the fifth chapter. Chapter Six covers applications of quantum mechanics, including the quantum particle in a box, quantum particle in harmonic potential, quantum tunneling, stationary perturbation theory, and time-dependent perturbation theory. Chapter Seven outlines the basic axioms of quantum mechanics. Chapter Eight focuses on quantum atomic physics, emphasizing electron spin and utilizing the Dirac equation for theoretical justification. The ninth chapter explains quantum mechanics principles for identical particles at zero temperature, while Chapter Ten extends the discussion to quantum particles at finite temperature. Chapter Eleven provides insights into quantum information and entanglement, and the twelfth chapter explains the path integral approach to quantum mechanics. The Authors Luca Salasnich was awarded an M.Sc. in Physics by the University of Padua in 1991, and his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics by the University of Florence in 1995. He is a full professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Padua. His fields of research are condensed matter and statistical physics.Francesco Lorenzi was awarded a B.Sc. in Information Engineering by the University of Padua in 2020, and an M.Sc. in ICT and Photonics Engineering by the same University in 2022. He is now a Ph.D. fellow in Physics at the University of Padua, Italy. His fields of research are nonlinear optical fibers, ultracold atoms, and scattering theory. 

Muzio Clementi and British Musical Culture

Recent scholarship has vanquished the traditional perception of nineteenth-century Britain as a musical wasteland. In addition to attempting more balanced assessments of the achievements of British composers of this period, scholars have begun to explore the web of reciprocal relationships between the societal, economic and cultural dynamics arising from the industrial revolution, the Napoleonic wars, and the ever-changing contours of British music publishing, music consumption, concert life, instrument design, performance practice, pedagogy and composition. Muzio Clementi (1752-1832) provides an ideal case-study for continued exploration of this web of relationships. Based in London for much of his life, whilst still maintaining contact with continental developments, Clementi achieved notable success in a diversity of activities that centred mainly on the piano. The present book explores Clementi's multivalent contribution to piano performance, pedagogy, composition and manufacture in relation to British musical life and its international dimensions. An overriding purpose is to interrogate when, how and to what extent a distinctive British musical culture emerged in the early nineteenth century. Much recent work on Clementi has centred on the Italian National Edition of his complete works (MiBACT); several chapters report on this project, whilst continuing to pursue the book's broader themes.
