A Study of Selected Articles from "Inside the Learning Society"

Education is the most sensitive system of today's society. Scientific inquiry through research has completed its active century that has provided us the solid base of understanding for variety of subjects. The dazzling rate of increment in knowledge has given a new input that motivates people in the field to the side of application of their gained knowledge. The modern world is the witness of tremendous changes based on science and technology including communication. The advancement in the area of knowledge is not limited to theories but its interpretation for other work's of life and application wherever necessary. The changing scenario of modern society is well influenced by the attitude of learning. The process of learning and its degree is one of the important parameter to identify a learning society. Our way of life is concentrated on new and creative ways of thinking that creates the information on new needs of the people. There is a great observed change in the delivery system of knowledge extending, open and distance learning including virtual classes. This dynamism has created a new quest for the advancement.

Biology of Earias vittella and Integrated Pest Management of okra

Okra [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench] crop is attacked by more than 30 species of insect pests. Sucking insect pests suck cell sap from tender leaves, while shoot and fruit borer, E. vittella larvae bore the growing shoots during early vegetative growth stage and during reproductive stage it diverts to floral buds and fruits. Pesticides are generally applied frequently to harvest healthy pods. Moreover, use of chemical pesticides has adverse consequences such as development of resistance, resurgence, outbreak of secondary pests, toxicity to non-target fauna disturbance in the natural balance between pests and natural enemies population and environmental pollution. The widespread development of these pest problems is one of the most serious indictments of our present day pest control technology. In view of the above facts, its visualized a need to develop eco-friendly approaches i.e., Integrated Pest Management programme, wherein all available practicable, economical and compatible techniques of pest control are implemented systemically in a single unified programme that cause minimum or no adverse effect on environment including non-target fauna and flora.

Enhancement Solubility Poorly Water Soluble Drug

Allopurinol is poorly water soluble drug used in treatment of gout. Rapid onset of action of allopurinol drug in treatment of gout is required. Solubility is rate limiting step for this drug. To enhance the solubility here solid dispersion and crystal engineering approach was selected and applied. The solubility and dissolution rate of allopurinol can be enhanced by the use of SDs of allopurinol with PVPK30. The solubilization effect of PVPK30, reduction of particle aggregation of the drug, absence of crystallinity, and alteration of the surface properties of the drug particles might be responsible for the enhanced solubility and dissolution rate of allopurinol from its SD. From FTIR spectroscopy, it was concluded that there was no well defined interaction between allopurinol and PVPK30, since no new peaks or shift of peaks could be observed. The absence of an endothermic peak of allopurinol in the DSC thermo grams of SDs with PVPK30showed the conversion of allopurinol from crystalline to amorphous state. It can be concluded that the preparation SDs of allopurinol with Polymer PVPK30 with ratio (1:2) provides a promising way to enhance its solubility and dissolution.
