Financial Engineering in Sustainable Funding of Urban Development in the EU

Piotr Idczak, Ph.D, is an assistant professor at the Department of European Studies, Poznań University of Economics and Business. His primary research interests encompass European integration, regional economic development with particular focus on the development of peripheral regions, urban regeneration, and the evaluation and analysis of financial engineering instruments used in EU cohesion policy. He is lecturer and trainer for graduate and postgraduate students at PUEB. Additionally, he has professional experience with the preparation and implementation of projects co-financed by European funds. He was also involved in several national and international research and educational projects. Currently, he coordinates a reserach project funded by the National Science Centre, Poland, on the JESSICA initiative. Ida Musiałkowska is an Associate Professor and Head of Department of European Studies Department at the Poznań University of Economics and Business (PUEB, Poland) and also serves as Programme Director for International Economics at the university. She obtained her habilitation in economics (post-doctoral degree) in 2017 and Ph.D. in economics in 2005 (PUEB). Her research interests are dynamics of regional integration and development processes in the EU and world, EU cohesion policy, European integration, Latin American integration, regional business cycles and policy transfer. She is an author of many research articles, chapters in books, books and visiting professor at the European, South and North American universities. Besides, she was an expert to the European Commission and evaluator at REA (Horizon 2020), COST programme, Polish Parliament (2011-2015), regional and local authorities, and is a member of the monitoring committee of the Wielkopolska Regional Operation Programme for the years 2014–2020.

Il gesso è un sale minerale di notevole importanza industriale e commerciale, utilizzato principalmente nella produzione di gesso e cemento e come fertilizzante e ammendante del suolo. Nonostante ciò, in letteratura esistono pochi lavori sul gesso, soprattutto per quanto riguarda gli argomenti legati alla sua estrazione e al commercio internazionale. Questo libro si propone di colmare in parte questa lacuna, fornendo una sintesi delle conoscenze attuali sul gesso, tra cui la sua composizione chimica, le proprietà, la genesi, i depositi globali, i metodi di estrazione, la lavorazione, le principali applicazioni industriali e i mercati internazionali. Il libro include anche un'analisi dell'esperienza della Mauritania in questo campo, un Paese che possiede uno dei più grandi depositi di gesso al mondo. Inoltre, il libro fornisce un esempio concreto delle opportunità e delle sfide legate alla valorizzazione delle risorse minerarie in Africa e all'accesso ai mercati internazionali.Pensato per un ampio pubblico di professionisti, questo libro sostiene anche un maggiore utilizzo di prodotti a base di gesso per sostituire il cemento Portland in alcune applicazioni. Gips ist ein Mineralsalz von erheblicher industrieller und kommerzieller Bedeutung, das vor allem bei der Herstellung von Gips und Zement sowie als Düngemittel und Bodenverbesserer verwendet wird. Trotzdem gibt es in der Literatur nur wenige Werke über Gips, insbesondere zu Themen, die mit seinem Abbau und internationalen Handel zusammenhängen. This book aims to partly fill this gap by providing a synthesis of current knowledge on gypsum including its chemical composition, properties, genesis, global deposits, extraction methods, processing, main industrial applications, and international markets. Das Buch enthält auch eine Analyse der Erfahrungen Mauretaniens in diesem Bereich, einem Land, das eine der größten Gipslagerstätten der Welt besitzt. Darüber hinaus bietet das Buch ein konkretes Beispiel für die Chancen und Herausforderungen im Zusammenhang mit der Erschließung von Bodenschätzen in Afrika und dem Zugang zu internationalen Märkten.Das für ein breites Fachpublikum konzipierte Buch spricht sich außerdem für eine verstärkte Verwendung von Gipsprodukten aus, um Portlandzement in einigen Anwendungen zu ersetzen.
