Silvio Pellico
Silvio Pellico schreef met Mijn gevangenissen het meest succesvolle boek uit de Italiaanse literatuur van de negentiende eeuw. Binnen enkele jaren na verschijning was het door heel Europa in vertaling beschikbaar, ook in Nederland, waar het al in 1833 uitkwam. Daarna volgden nog diverse andere vertaalde edities, de laatste in 1911. Aan de vooravond van de 200-jarige herdenking van Pellico’s historische martelaarschap voor de onafhankelijkheid van Italië, is het hoog tijd voor een moderne Nederlandse editie van dit werk. De vertaling is van de hand van Yond Boeke en Patty Krone, die eerder ook Alessandro Manzoni’s De verloofden,
