Op achttienjarige leeftijd wordt ze door haar ouders uitgehuwelijkt aan de eenogige officier ‘Glas’, een sadistische fascist. Ondertussen groeit Iris op in een naburig dorp in betere omstandigheden. Ze vertrekt naar de stad en wordt hopeloos verliefd op de partizaan Diaz, bij wiens verzetsgroep ze zich aansluit. Wanneer ze hoort dat de fascisten haar familie op gruwelijke wijze hebben omgebracht, zint ze op wraak.
