Rubberboot
In 'Rubberboot', gebaseerd op een tragedie in het Kanaal in 2021, onderzoekt een gekwelde kustwachtmedewerker haar geweten. Schiffbruch
Im November 2021 kentert ein Schlauchboot mit 29 Migranten, die von Frankreich nach Großbritannien unterwegs sind. Trotz zahlreicher per Handy abgesetzter Notrufe schickt die französische Marineoffizierin, die in dieser Nacht für die Seenotrettung zuständig ist, keine Hilfe. Sie geht davon aus, dass das Boot im Ärmelkanal in Richtung britischer Gewässer treibt und teilt den Verzweifelten mit, sie müssten die Briten um Hilfe bitten. Als ein Rettungsboot schließlich am Unglücksort eintrifft, sind alle Menschen bis auf zwei ertrunken. Die Erzählerin von Delecroix' fiktiver Darstellung der Ereignisse ist die Frau, die die Anrufe entgegennahm. Sie wird beschuldigt, ihre Pflicht verletzt zu haben, weigert sich jedoch, die Schuld für diese Katastrophe zu übernehmen. Warum sollte sie mehr Verantwortung tragen als wir alle, die wir von außen zuschauen? 'Schiffbruch' fängt das tiefe moralische Unbehagen unserer Zeit ein, in der Schweigen und Distanz allzu oft an die Stelle von Gerechtigkeit treten.
