Lamp (advertisement)
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Lamp is a television and cinema advertisement released in September 2002 to promote the IKEA chain of furniture stores in the United States. The 60-second commercial was the first part of the "Unböring" campaign conceived by advertising agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky, and follows a lamp abandoned by its owner. It was produced by the production company Morton/Jankel/Zander, and was directed by Spike Jonze. Post-production and editing was handled by Spot Welders and sound design by the California-based MIT Out Sound. The commercial aired concurrently with another IKEA piece in the same vein, titled Moo Cow. Lamp, and its associated campaign, was a popular, critical, and financial success. Sales of IKEA furniture increased by eight percent during the period in which the commercial ran, and Lamp received a number of awards, including a Grand Clio and the Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, considered the most prestigious accolade granted by the advertising community.

Developing and Implementing a Public Health and Criminological Approach to Tackling Sexual Abuse
This edited collection draws together and contextualises research on the Epidemiological Criminology (EpiCrim) approaches to sexual abuse carried out by the University of West England (UWE), Bristol. EpiCrim sees crime and offending behaviour, including sexual abuse, as a public health issue and advocates that to prevent first time or repeat offending behaviour we have to work in a bespoke way across a number of populations (individual, interpersonal, community, and societal). The book introduces the area of EpiCrim and how it works to address sexual abuse, before examining the UWE based research on the prevention, treatment and community integration of people impacted by sexual abuse. The book discusses policy, practice, theory and research in this area with the authors reviewing, critiquing, synthesising as well as building upon previous/current research, theory and policy.

Methodological Advances in Cross-National Surveys of Educational Achievement
In November 2000, the Board on International Comparative Studies in Education (BICSE) held a symposium to draw on the wealth of experience gathered over a four-decade period, to evaluate improvement in the quality of the methodologies used in international studies, and to identify the most pressing methodological issues that remain to be solved. Since 1960, the United States has participated in 15 largescale cross-national education surveys. The most assessed subjects have been science and mathematics through reading comprehension, geography, nonverbal reasoning, literature, French, English as a foreign language, civic education, history, computers in education, primary education, and second-language acquisition. The papers prepared for this symposium and discussions of those papers make up the volume, representing the most up-to-date and comprehensive assessment of methodological strengths and weaknesses of international comparative studies of student achievement. These papers answer the following questions: (1) What is the methodological quality of the most recent international surveys of student achievement? How authoritative are the results? (2) Has the methodological quality of international achievement studies improved over the past 40 years? and (3) What are promising opportunities for future improvement?
