Maria Schneider (Actress)

She is best known for playing Jeanne opposite Marlon Brando in the 1972 motion picture Last Tango in Paris. Schneider performed numerous full-frontal nude scenes in Last Tango in Paris, which were controversial at the time. On a television interview in 2007 with the Daily Mail, Schneider described Last Tango in Paris director Bernardo Bertolucci as "fat and sweaty and very manipulative, both of Marlon and myself, and he did certain things to get her reaction." She and Brando remained friends until his death, although they did not speak of the movie "for a while." She also says that her experience with the film - and her treatment as a sex symbol rather than as a serious actress - motivated her to never do films with nude scenes again.

The Viennese café (German: (Wiener) Kaffeehaus) is a typical institution of Vienna that still plays an important role in Viennese culture and tradition. Unlike some other café traditions around the world, it is completely normal for a customer to linger alone for hours and study the omnipresent newspaper. Along with coffee, the waiter will serve an obligatory glass of cold tap water and during a long stay will often bring additional water unrequested, with the idea being that you are a guest who should feel welcomed and not pressured to leave for another patron. In the late 19th and early 20th century, leading writers of the time became attached to the atmosphere of Viennese cafés and were frequently seen to meet, exchange and to even write there. Literature composed in cafés is commonly referred to as coffee house literature, the writers thereof as coffee house poets. The famous journal "Die Fackel" ("The Torch") by Karl Kraus is said to have been written in cafés to a large extent. Other coffee house poets include Arthur Schnitzler, Alfred Polgar, Friedrich Torberg, and Egon Erwin Kisch.

In den 1920er Jahren war sie mit Heinrich Schnitzler, dem Sohn Arthur Schnitzlers befreundet. 1930 heiratete Bettina Bauer den Maler und Bildhauer Georg Ehrlich (1897-1966). Beide gehörten zur Zinkenbacher Malerkolonie.

Rainforest of the Austrians is an environment protection project was founded by Michael Schnitzler, an Austrian violinist and grandson of the poet Arthur Schnitzler, as a non-profit organization. Its goal is raising funds to buy properties in the Esquinas Rainforest which is 146.7 square kilometres big and located in the south of Costa Rica. These properties become part of the Piedras Blancas National Park. This area of the rainforest was owned by local farmers. In 1991 the government of Costa Rica has declared the area as a National Park to protect the forest against the clearing. But there has not been enough money for buying the whole forest and the government has needed foreign help for realizing their environmental protection plan.
