Charles Ludlam
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Charles Braun Ludlam (April 12, 1943 - May 28, 1987) was an American actor, director, and playwright.Ludlam was born in Floral Park, New York, the son of Marjorie (née Braun) and Joseph William Ludlam. He was raised in Greenlawn, New York, on Long Island, and attended Harborfields High School. The fact that he was gay was not a secret. He performed in community theatre in Huntington and worked backstage in summer stock in Northport, and during his last year of high school he directed, produced and performed in plays by Strindberg, O'Neill, and others, with a group of friends, students from Huntington, Northport, Greenlawn, and Centerport. Their "Students Repertory Theatre" in a loft on Northport's Main Street was large enough to seat an audience of 25. Their audiences were appreciative and enthusiastic; the house sold out for every performance. He received a degree in dramatic literature from Hofstra University in 1964, by which time he had officially come out.

A Christmas Carol
adapted from the novel by Charles Dickens Holiday Comedy Characters: 17 male, 14 female, double casting and cross-gender casting possible Multiple Settings A Ridiculous but surprisingly faithful rendition of the Dickens classic in which Ebenezer Scrooge is haunted by the ghosts of his late partner, Jacob Marley, Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and the Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come. Faced with his own mortality, and the evil results of his misanthropic, miserly ways, Scrooge is redeemed, reconciled with his nephew and his neighbors, and becomes a second father to his assistant's son, Tiny Tim. Ludlam finds the humor as well as the pathos in this Victorian melodrama, creating the most Dickensian and stageworthy adaptation yet. "A faithful, authentic adaptation of the evergreen Christmas tale."- The New York Times "A perfect holiday entertainment." - SoHo Weekly News "A delicious family treat."- Christian Science Monitor

Jack and the Beanstalk
Characters: 4 male, 3 female, extras, double casting and cross casting possible. Various settings A Ridiculous retelling of the children's classic. All the familiar elements are there, including Jack, his mother, their cow, the magic beans, the beanstalk, the giant, the giantess, the goose that lays the golden eggs, and the harp that talks, but Ludlam adds his usual mix of wordplay and sight gags - and a very light touch of vegetarian and proletarian rabble-rousing - to create a fresh, thought-provoking, utterly delightful stage version of approximately 45 minutes.
