The Book of Joy
His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the spiritual and political leader of Tibet. Today, he lives in exile in Northern India and works tirelessly on behalf of the Tibetan people, as well as travelling the world to give spiritual teachings to sell-out audiences. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989. The first black Archbishop of Cape Town, Tutu won the Nobel Peace Prize for his leadership of the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission and was Chair of a group of former world leaders, The Elders, which aims to tackle some of the world's most intractable problems. He helped calm the political crisis in Kenya and regularly spoke out against Mugabe, Israel, the Iraq War and the Burmese junta, but is also noted for his irrepressible sense of humour and deep spirituality. He lived in South Africa and travelled widely. Tutu died on the 26th December 2021, at the age of 90.

Amnesty International South Africa
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Amnesty International South Africa (AI SA) is a South Africa organisation that works to end human rights abuses and part is of the Amnesty International network. Amnesty International South Africa was founded in 1990 and grew from modest beginnings to become a key player in South Africa's transition to democracy and an important part of Amnesty's international movement, hosting the Amnesty International ICM in 1997. Today Amnesty International South Africa continues to campaign on multiple fronts including human rights education, women's rights, arms control and Zimbabwe. Amnesty International did not have a group presence in South Africa up to the end of the 1980s because mixed race meeting were not allowed under the apartheid regime. However there were individual members linked to London. It was only in 1990 when the local situation improved with a reduction in repression and the unbanning of the ANC and its allied organisations, that the International Secretariat allowed the formation of groups in the country.

Beyond Terror
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Beyond Terror: The Truth About the Real Threats to Our World is a book by Chris Abbott, Paul Rogers and John Sloboda of Oxford Research Group, a UK-based think tank. It is a 120 page paperback published by the Rider imprint of Random House in April 2007. It carries endorsements from Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Brian Eno, George Monbiot and Anita Roddick amongst others. The book's authors set out to argue that terrorism is not the greatest threat to world security and that the ongoing 'war on terror' is failing and, in fact, actually increasing the likelihood of more terrorist attacks. Instead, the authors identify four key trends as being the greatest threats to global security in the 21st century - climate change; competition over resources; marginalisation of the majority world and global militarisation. Each of these is given a separate chapter.
