One of his most famous songs is "Salão de Beleza", which was featured on Putumayo World Music's Reggae Around the World compilation. Along with being a solo artist, he has also worked with guitarist Pedro Joia.Hailing from the state of Maranhão, in northeastern Brazil, Zeca - short for José (his name is Jose Ribamar) - grew up with music. (Where could Stephen Fry be?) was a reference to British actor Stephen Fry's flight from the stage play "Cellmates" in 1995, when he disappeard from the United Kingdom after bad reviews. Zeca won the 2000 Latin Grammys for "best pop album". He currently resides in São Paulo.

It has been broadcast on BBC One on Friday nights since 2 November 2001. The programme features Ross' take on current topics of conversation, guest interviews (usually three per show) and live music from both a guest music group and the house band. The show begins its eighteenth series in January 2010. The most frequent guests are Ricky Gervais and Jack Dee (8 episodes each), and Eddie Izzard (7 episodes). Johnny Vegas, Sir David Attenborough, Stephen Fry, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Clarkson have each appeared in 5 episodes. Since 2009, the programme has been broadcast in high- definition on BBC HD. Studio TC4 in the BBC Television Centre in London, where the show is made, has recently been upgraded to HD, making it the third television studio in Television Centre to be upgraded to HD (others being Studios TC1 and TC8). The show was pulled by the BBC on 29 October 2008 when Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand were both suspended from their TV and Radio shows, in the events after the Russell Brand Show prank telephone calls row. The show returned on 23 January 2009, attracting 5.1 million viewers.

A Bit of Fry and Laurie
A Bit of Fry & Laurie was a British television series starring former Cambridge Footlights members Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, broadcast on both BBC2 and also BBC1 between 1989 and 1995. It ran for four series and totaled 26 episodes, including a 35 minute pilot episode in 1987. Both Fry and Laurie have expressed interest in working together again, but this has been prevented by the busy schedules of both men. The programme was a sketch show cast in a rather eccentric and at times high-brow mould. As in The Two Ronnies, elaborate wordplay and innuendo were staples of its material; some sketches deliberately threatened to cross the line into vulgarity, but would always finish just before reaching that point. It was a progressive show, playing with the audience's expectations. For example, it frequently broke the fourth wall; characters would revert into their real-life actors mid-sketch, or the camera would often pan off set into the studio.
