Robert Sheldon Harte
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Robert Sheldon Harte (1915-1940) was an American Communist who worked as one of Leon Trotsky's assistants and bodyguards in Coyoacán, Mexico. During the Stalinist attack against Trotsky's household on May 24, 1940, Harte was abducted and later murdered by the Stalinist agents, among them David Alfaro Siqueiros (accused of the murder), and Pablo Neruda, who helped the latter escape to Chile. Harte's body was found alongside the road to Desierto de los Leones and Trotsky commissioned a plaque and had it placed at the front of the house with the text: "In Memory of Robert Sheldon Harte, 1915-1940, Murdered by Stalin."

Pre-Joycean Fellowship
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Several writers known for fantasy and science fiction have semi-seriously called themselves the Pre-Joycean Fellowship to indicate that they value 19th-century values of storytelling, including clarity, called by Jane Yolen the "lovely limpid quality" of writing. Steven Brust has said that "it is in large part a joke, and in another large part a way to start literary arguments." The term was probably coined by Will Shetterly in imitation of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, positing James Joyce as the dividing line (in English) between 19th-century fiction intended for a general audience and a modern desire to write for readers who are well educated in the literary history. Mark Alan Arnold commented, "The Pre-Joycean Fellowship exists to poke fun at the excesses of contemporary literature while simultaneously mining it for everything of value."

Yendi (Novel)
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Vlad narrates this story from a point in his life before the events of Phoenix. He quickly summarizes the series of turf wars and assassinations that led him to rise in the ranks of the Organization from low-rung assassin to the boss of his own neighborhood. As the story begins, Vlad has held his territory for six uneventful months, but then he receives word that a neighboring boss, Laris, has started to move in on his territory. A turf war between Vlad and Laris erupts. Vlad receives indirect help from several of his powerful friends in the House of the Dragon, but remains one step behind the better-prepared and better-informed Laris. Vlad survives several attempts on his life, but eventually two of his bodyguards betray him and allow him to be attacked by two female assassins, a Dragaeran and an Easterner. Vlad's lieutenant had received timely warning of the attack and sent word to Vlad's friends, Morrolan and Aliera, who teleport to the scene. They kill the assassins but are unable to rescue Vlad, who is killed by the Easterner assassin. Aliera revivifies Vlad as well as the two assassins.
