The Wild West and Its Prey

From the genocide of Indigenous peoples to the destruction of Iraq, the United States has been an expansionist project since its founding. But is the US imperial project in decline? This book traces the brutal arc of American imperialism, revealing a consistent logic: expansion through annihilation. Since 2001 alone, the US has funded proxy wars, armed allies' aggressive campaigns, and invaded sovereign nations with impunity—all while its economic foundation erodes beneath it.Yet, while the US burns trillions on forever wars and crumbling infrastructure, China has developed into a global economic competitor, outstripping the US on renewable industries and asserting itself as the center of the auto-industry. This raises the inescapable question: Will America accept its new status, or will it drag the world into catastrophic conflict to preserve its dominance? The Wild West and Its Prey sets out the possibility of a new global frontline that crosses trade, geopolitics and technology.

    Aroup Chatterjee

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Aroup Chatterjee (born in Kolkata) is the author of the book Mother Teresa: The Final Verdict, a work which challenges the widespread regard of Mother Teresa as a symbol of philanthropy and selflessness. Chatterjee is a physician working in England. He has accused Mother Teresa of unfairly damaging the reputation of the city of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta). In his book Chatterjee claims that Mother Teresa exaggerated the work she did among the poor, that she failed to use the very large amount of money donated to her on helping the poor and that the medical care given to people in homes run by Missionaries of Charity was grossly inadequate. Chatterjee's criticism inspired a documentary named Hell's Angel that was shown on Channel 4, a British television channel. The documentary was written by a well-known critic of Mother Teresa, Christopher Hitchens, who co-produced it with Tariq Ali. Chatterjee and Hitchens were the only two official hostile witnesses to Church procedures for the beatification of Mother Teresa in 2003.

    Wounded Galaxies 1968

    Geopolitics and Culture Wars

"Wounded Galaxies 1968 explores 'the symbiotic relationship of the radical art, culture and politics of that time,' acknowledging the 'contentious . . . . conflicting, sometimes contradictory' nature of that period's radical discourses. At the same time, Hawkins acknowledges concerns that reforms dating back to 1968 are being eviscerated in the United States, thus necessitating their reexamination. Given current American politics, such concerns must now only be amplified but make this volume still more timely."—Robert C. Cottrell, author of The Activist 1960s: Striving for Political and Social Empowerment in America"There are few critical histories quite like this one, and none that I am aware of that address this period in history. As such, as an edited collection it offers a significant contribution in the way it explicitly asks readers to think about intersections and overlaps across space, time, actions, and practices that most monographs or other collections don't or can't due to the scale such broad framing requires. The strength of this book is that it is a multidisciplinary collage, revealing new meanings to and in the history of this critical year."—Wyatt D. Philips, coeditor of Camp TV of the 1960s: Reassessing the Vast Wasteland
