Tony Juniper
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Tony Juniper (born 24 September 1960) is a British environmental campaigner, author and commentator most recognised for his work as Executive Director of Friends of the Earth, England, Wales and Northern Ireland and Vice Chair of Friends of the Earth International from 2000-2008.Juniper was the Green Party''s parliamentary candidate for the Cambridge constituency at the 2010 general election. He has been involved in the efforts to save the Spix''s Macaw, one of the most endangered birds in the world. In his book Macaw: The Race to Save the World''s Rarest Bird he harshly criticized the private holders of the birds such as Antonio de Dios''s Birds International; because he believes that the Spix''s should be returned to their native country Brazil for captive breeding and reintroduction to their natural habitat, which is still in decline. Many of the private holders of the Spix macaws were not breeding them in captivity. Most of the birds left in captivity are related, but most of these owners refused to trade birds to increase genetic diversity.

Wastewater Gardener
Preserving the Planet One Flush at a TimeMark Nelson, PhD, takes us on a global expedition to learn how we are wasting the world's dwindling supplies of fresh water by flushing away a very valuable resource, our own human wastes! A founding director of the Institute of Ecotechnics, Dr. Nelson has worked for several decades in closed ecological system research. As one of eight brave souls enclosed in the pioneering Biosphere 2 experiment, he realized how essential the proper re-use of human waste is to the health of the planet. This led to what Dr. Nelson calls a life-long love affair with constructed wetlands, where he discovered an important solution to some of our trickiest global dilemmas: Wastewater Gardens. While the problems covered in this book are very serious, Dr. Nelson's approach to the subject makes for a delightful, down-to-earth read.
