Patrick Vernuccio, known as "The Frenchie Gardener" on Instagram and as @thefrenchiegardener TikTok, is an urban gardener who has transformed his 18-square-meter balcony into a green jungle, growing organic seasonal vegetables and fruits in pots and containers. He aims to inspire people to embrace an urban regenerative lifestyle. He was 36 years old when he planted his first seed, and now he is convincing his hundreds of thousands of followers to do the same and reconnect with nature. He writes for gardening magazines, teaches an online gardening class, and has undertaken a certified permaculture design course.

Rewilding

Een groeiende groep mensen houdt zich bezig met rewilding. Dit is een vernieuwende vorm van natuurherstel, waarbij ecologen zich bezighouden met het herstel van de verloren gegane interacties tussen dieren, planten en natuurlijke verstoringen, die de essentie vormen van bloeiende ecosystemen. In Rewilding beschrijven de twee belangrijkste wetenschappers op dit gebied, Paul Jepson en Cain Blythe, op een toegankelijke manier de ecologische en historische achtergronden, geïllustreerd door prachtige natuurhistorische beelden, gecombineerd met infographics en stroomdiagrammen. Ze beantwoorden tevens vragen over de rol van megafauna bij rewilding, beschrijven vier belangrijke projecten op dit gebied, waaronder die van de Oostvaarderplassen, geven aan hoe belangrijk het is om het publiek te betrekken en hoe dat kan en staan ze stil bij ethische aspecten van rewilding. Tenslotte doen ze tien voorspellingen voor een gerewilde planeet, waarin plaats is voor mens, en soorten als wilde paarden en runderen, wolven en bevers. De auteurs Paul Jepson is projectleider Natuurherstel bij Ecosulis Ltd en was tot voor kort directeur van de Masters-opleiding van Oxford University in biodiversiteit, natuurbehoud en natuurbeheer. Hij heeft veel gepubliceerd over rewilding-beleid en actiefilosofie, en is lid van de raad van toezicht van Rewilding Europe. Cain Blythe is algemeen directeur van Ecosulis Ltd en is gespecialiseerd in het herstel van habitats, met name door de toepassing van natuurlijke regeneratietechnieken, natuurherstel en het gebruik van technologie bij natuurbehoud. Drawing upon aspects of photography, sculpture, assemblage and text, Lewis Koch calls attention to the often unremarked upon elements of everyday life. Over the past fifty years, he has presented installations in garages, on kiosks and billboards, as well as in museums and galleries, in solo exhibitions internationally.  His work is held in permanent collections which include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Smithsonian Museum of American Art, and National Gallery of Art (both DC), Maison Européenne de la Photographie (Paris), Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, Whitney Museum of American Art (NY), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and Museum of Fine Arts (Houston). Jill Sterrett is Director of Collections at the Wisconsin Historical Society. Before her tenure in Wisconsin, she held leadership positions at the Smart Museum of Art (Chicago), and for 28 years at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. There, she led the conservation department during its formative years, establishing SFMOMA as a pioneer in the field of time-based media conservation. Lisa Stone is an independent curator/collaborator, preservation consultant, and retired (2020) curator of the Roger Brown Study Collection, and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Art History, Theory, and Criticism, both at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). She works, seasonally, in her studios––indoors and out––in rural Wisconsin.
