It runs for 21 miles, primarily north-south, between the towns of Vernonia and Banks on an abandoned railroad bed. Banks is about 25 miles west of Portland. The entire 8-foot wide trail is paved. The trail is open to all non-motorized uses such as hiking, biking, and horseback riding. A 4-foot wide horse trail parallels the hiking and biking trail.

The Aylesbury and Buckingham Railway Company was incorporated on 6 August 1860, and the line opened on 23 September 1868 connecting connected Aylesbury and Verney Junction and serving intermediate stations at Waddesdon Manor, Quainton Road, Grandborough, and Winslow Road. There, she led the conservation department during its formative years, establishing SFMOMA as a pioneer in the field of time-based media conservation. Lisa Stone is an independent curator/collaborator, preservation consultant, and retired (2020) curator of the Roger Brown Study Collection, and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Art History, Theory, and Criticism, both at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). She works, seasonally, in her studios––indoors and out––in rural Wisconsin.
