“In
Power Shift
, Bruce Bailey strips away the ‘green-tinted glasses’ that often color discussions of renewable energy to reveal the complex machinery actually driving the transition. Drawing on his deep experience with banks, government agencies, and developers, Bailey masterfully explains why often the transition moves slower than policy mandates suggest. From the ‘Darwinian winnowing’ of companies facing political volatility to the intricate alignment required between financial institutions and local landowners, this book provides the clarity stakeholders need to survive and thrive. This is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand the ‘hidden forces’ that determine whether a project—and the transition itself—succeeds.”

President & CEO, New Energy Equity LLC
“To his explanations of the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition, Bruce Bailey brings ambition, hope, and realism from deep experience. If you’ve never thought about the implications of weather as the fuel source, then Bruce Bailey’s book is a must-read for you. With strong doses of hope and realism, Bailey demystifies the long path and multiple potential failure points for accelerating the energy transition, explaining how many stakeholders with understandably different priorities and timelines all need to get to 'yes' for a project—and ultimately a national transition—to happen.”
