Reviving Phoenicia

This study follows the development of the Phoenician myth of origin in Lebanon from the mid-19th to the late 20th century. Asher Kaufman demonstrates the role of the lay, liberal Syrian-Lebanese residing in Beirut, Alexandria and America during this period, in the propagation of this myth.
