Jhumpa Lahiri

Jhumpa Lahiri (1967) werd in Londen geboren uit Bengalese ouders en groeide op in de Verenigde Staten. Met haar verhalenbundel Een tijdelijk ongemak won ze de Pulitzer Prize, de PEN/Hemingway Award en de New Yorker Prize for Best First Book. In 2003 verscheen de roman De naamgenoot, die succesvol werd verfilmd als The Namesake. In 2008 verscheen de veelgeprezen verhalenbundel Vreemd land.
