He was Architecture and Design Editor of the Independent (1989-97) and Architecture and Design Critic of the Guardian (1997-2012). He currently writes for BBC World and the Daily Telegraph , and other publications. His books include The Story of Architecture and Lost Buildings . He is an honorary fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, RIBA.
