A gripping psychological thriller of love, betrayal and obsession with a twist you won't see coming.
Thrilling characters and expertly written, down to the very last detail. I didn't actually have time to read, and did everything to try to put the book down. But I simply couldn't. Not until the last page had been read.
Skilful, thrilling, and unexpected
Wickedly complex, macabre, and highly entertaining! It is, ultimately, a story about love, loss, murder, abuse, and obsession. The writing is clever and precise. The characters are damaged, lonely, and despondent. This is an intriguing, debut psychological thriller that is perfect for fans of Jo Nesbo or Henning Mankell
Original & exciting with a shocking and satisfying ending. I couldn't help but like Peter the main detective in the story disputed his having more problems and issues than the murderer! I hope he appears in another book and that Hanne survives to once again help him solve the crime. I can't say more without giving spoilers so will simply end by heartily recommending this fabulous book
This book is excellent. All the characters were believable and their backstories handled sensitively, none more so that Hanne. I am really impressed with Grebe's talents and look forward to reading more. In an overcrowded genre, this is a refreshing and incisive voice
This is a cleverly plotted mystery with a tremendous cast of characters, particularly the police team assigned to the case. This one is an all-nighter
A clever and addictive psychological thriller with some great main characters
A high-profile Swedish novel . . . that lives up to its reputation . . . Cross-cutting between the characters at an ever-increasing pace, this is Scandi-noir at its powerful bleakest
Captivating story...the three unreliable narrators deftly ensure readers' certainties stay on very thin ice
This gripping story of murder, love and betrayal is perfect for fans of noir Scandi drama
The BridgeA complex, macabre and utterly captivating thriller. Grebe's first solo flight is a triumph
It's complex, and as you read it, it is hard to even guess at what's going on under the surface. This isn't a weakness, it's just a puzzle, and the power of the writing. plotting and general structure is such that you more than stick with it, sure the writer is leading you somewhere. It was disturbing, and exercises the grey matter, but was unputdownable. I didn't read it before I needed to go to sleep. BEcause I would be tossing, turning, and fretting. A must read book about obsession, betrayal and of course, love. Highly recommended
There was enough in this book to keep me invested in the characters and it also had me guessing. What more could you want from a book as though colder months begin to set in?
Really got hooked on
The Ice Beneath Her - a clever and addictive psychological thriller with some great main characters (one of whom I disliked to the point of loving) and a lovely twisty turny whodunnit at the heart that will keep you on your reading toes
Set in Sweden this psychological thriller is one that will chill you as much as thrill you
Compelling
Full of complicated and interesting characters, intrigue and deception, and a twist that I didn't entirely see coming, Grebe is an author that is on my radar now
a razor-sharp, complex mystery - Scandi-noir at its best
