Omschrijving
Not only will these thrilling tales entertain, they will both broaden and deepen the reader's knowledge Latin idiom and vocabulary. The language level is intermediate and the syntax is far simpler than that to be found in classical authors. If the reader has worked through a primer such as Benjamin D'ooge's Latin for Beginners, or William Collar's The Beginner's Latin Book, then they will be equipped with all the grammar they need. Furthermore, by concentrating on action and adventure, the narratives are rendered straight forward and accessible. Finally, since the settings are relatively contemporary, the reader will be spared the additional effort of acquiring the historical background. As to the length of the stories, they are not so short as to be trivial, but are long enough to bear rereading several times with enjoyment.A list of idioms and their English equivalents, in the order in which they occur in the stories are given at the end of the book.
First taught Latin by the Christian Brothers in Waterford, Ireland, T J Price continued to read classical literature while pursuing several careers in the USA and UK. Exchanging city life to set up a small holding has given him time to write, especially in the winter.
