Omschrijving

A dark psychological thriller cum Gothic mystery, as a young man with mental health issues inherits an isolated mansion, where all is not as it seems ...

'Disturbing but compulsive' Martina Cole; Vivid, visceral and compulsive' Ian Rankin; 'Malone's effortless writing style confirms him as a sharp new voice in crime fiction' Anya Lipska; 'Malone just gets better and better' SJI Holliday; 'A deliciously dark tale about the things that haunt us, House of Spines is unexpected and beautiful, and has all the gothic elements of classics like Rebecca, and all the poetry and page-turning trickery you'd expect from Michael Malone. Wonderful' Louise Beech; `In a creepy gothic mansion in Glasgow, Malone weaves his magic and creates a chillingly unnerving tale. There is a real sense of foreboding and ghostly goings on, but it's the books and the sense of a world that exists on the margins of our imaginations that got every hair on the back of my neck standing on end. House of Spines is disturbingly delightful, although you might never look at mirrors, lifts and old houses in the same way again!' The Book Trail; `House of Spines is spine-chillingly brilliant, filled with depth and emotion, and certainly kept me guessing' Off-the-Shelf Books; `House of Spines is a satisfyingly, chillingly haunting and delightfully disturbing read, don't miss it!' Chapterinmylife

Michael Malone is a prize-winning poet and author who was born and brought up in the heart of Burns' country, in Ayr. He has published over 200 poems in literary magazines throughout the UK, including New Writing Scotland, Poetry Scotland and Markings. His career as a poet has also included a (very) brief stint as the Poet-In-Residence for an adult gift shop. Blood Tears, his bestselling debut novel won the Pitlochry Prize (judge: Alex Gray) from the Scottish Association of Writers. Other published work includes: Carnegie's Call (a non-fiction work about successful modern-day Scots); A Taste for Malice; The Guillotine Choice; Beyond the Rage and The Bad Samaritan. His psychological thriller, A Suitable Lie, was a number one bestseller on AU/UK ebook charts, and House of Spines soon followed suit. Michael is a regular reviewer for the hugely popular crime fiction website www.crimesquad.com. A former Regional Sales Manager (Faber & Faber) he has also worked as an IFA and a bookseller.
